The sponge pad can tear when removing from the iMac, we go through hundreds of these type of sensors, some will have the sponge pad intact, some will not. A sensor can be attached, with a piece of adhesive tape, with or without the sponge pad, which is just a sticky pad Apple use to attach the sensor, this pad is no linger sticky even if you do receive it, you will need some type of adhesive or adhesive tape to reattach this type of sensor**
